Engine
The “BMW 801” Engine with Kommandogerät, which pioneered engine control in modern aircraft.
Instead of an inefficient and frequently malfunctioning liquid-cooled engine, Dr. The tank went for a high horsepower, robust air-cooled engine and used the BMW 801 air-cooled, twin-row, 14-cylinder engine.
The SWS kit reproduces in detail the push-pull rods and baffle plates, as well as the 'Kommandogerät', a comprehensive adjustment device. Check out the exhaust pipes with a single bulk tailpipe under the nose. Engine racks connected to the front wall through support rods to distribute the load on the front wall and the longitudinal beam, which is the main structure of the fuselage. The essence of SWS kits is that modelers can see the structure of the aircraft during assembly and almost feel the airflow through the engine. The way the machine guns are mounted is also extraordinary, as is the shape of the propeller blades, which is vital for a piston-engined aircraft.

The cockpit of the Fw 190 is compact, but each piece of equipment is neatly placed. Pilot engineer Dr. Kurt Tank's consideration for the pilot is clearly evident in the well-organized and highly visible instrumentation layout. Switches and levers are rationally arranged for reliable operation.
The canopy slides on curved rails at the edge of the cockpit, so it changes shape when open or closed. The headrest is of the larger bulletproof plate type used on the A-4 and later models. This kit includes the canopies and headrests corresponding to the conversion. You can turn it on and off as you wish. The real plane features solid 50mm front and 30mm side bulletproof glass. The windshield is also accurately represented.
Color and marking

The kit has three different marking decal variations. These are the winter and summer camouflages of Corporal Karl-Heinz Cordes' "White 3" aircraft, featuring the green heart emblem of JG54 and the black eagle emblem of I./JG54; also available is "White 4", featuring the devil emblem of the I./JG1 squadron.
Operating in the Leningrad/Gulf of Finland area in early 1943, I./JG 54 deployed Fw 190s with winter camouflage near Leningrad from February to March 1943. The unit then moved south, participating in the Battle of Kursk (Russia) in the summer of 1943. It is believed that white camouflage was converted into summer camouflage at that time.
SWS exactly copied the Fw 190, which stands out with its robust structure and large main landing gear. This aircraft demonstrated outstanding performance in Russia's rugged terrain.

The Focke-Wulf Fw-190 is a single-engine, all-metal-bodied, closed-cabin, low-wing German fighter aircraft used in World War II. Pilots evaluated the Fw-190 as a better aircraft than the Messerschmitt Bf-109. A self-supporting low-wing aircraft with Fw-190 fairing was ordered by the Department of the Air Force, which was assembled in the autumn of 1937. Kurt Tank presented two propulsion proposals: the first with a liquid-cooled Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine, the second with the new BMW 139 radial engine. The latter was selected and work began in the spring of 1938 under the direction of Obering R. Blaser. The first prototype of the Fw-190V1 was ready in May 1939 and was flown by Captain Hans Sander in Bremen on 1 June 1939. The second prototype, the FW-190V2, began flying in October 1939, armed with two MG131 and two MG17 machine guns (all 7.92 mm caliber). Both were equipped with a tunnel-shaped air intake in the propeller shroud to reduce aerodynamic drag, but problems with engine overheating led to a return to the proven NACA shield design. Before the tests of these prototypes began, it was decided to replace the BMW 139 engine with a more powerful, but longer and heavier BMW 801. This required many changes, such as strengthening the structure and shifting the cabin backwards; This later led to problems with the center of gravity. The advantage was that problems with exhaust gas leakage and overheating due to the direct proximity of the cabin to the BMW 139 engine were eliminated. The third and fourth prototypes were abandoned and the new powered Fw-190V5 was completed in early 1940. Later, it received wings with an increased wingspan of one meter (from the original 9.5 m); this made it 10 km/h slower, but increased its climb rate and improved maneuverability. This model was designated Fw-190V5g and its shorter wing variant was designated Fw-190V5k. The first seven aircraft of the Fw-190A-0 information series had short wings, the rest had longer wings. The first operational unit to be equipped with the Fw-190, 6./JG 26 based at Le Bourget, declared operational readiness in August 1941, and from the first encounter of the new fighter with the British Supermarine Spitfire, its superiority over them became clear. About a dozen versions of this wonderful aircraft were produced throughout the war. Aircraft in the "A" version, along with about a dozen modernizations, served as fighters. The versions marked "B" and "C" were only prototypes of high-altitude fighters designed to combat strategic bombers and did not go into mass production. The only "D" variant of the Fw-190s was powered by the new 1750 HP Jumo 213A engine and was the German's answer to the P-51 Mustang. The new engine lengthened the fuselage by several dozen centimeters. This variant also predominantly performed fighter and high-altitude fighter missions. Many variants of the "F" version were used as fighter-bombers to provide direct support to the battlefield. The "G" version also played the same role as the "F" version, but had a greater range. Throughout the war, II. More than 20,000 of this aircraft, one of the best fighter planes of World War II, were produced.
