M1 Abrams is a modern 3th generation American main battle tank. The first prototypes of the vehicle were formed in the 1970s and mass production, which was started in 1979, is still continuing today. To date (2018), approximately 10500 tanks have been produced. M1 Abrams, Avco Lycoming AGT-1500C 1500 HP turbo shaft (turbine) is strengthened with the engine. The vehicle is equipped with a 105 mm M68A1 tank ball in version M1, and in the M1a1 and 120 mm m256 tank ball in M1a1 and subsequent versions. Additional Arms is 1 12.7 mm machine gun and 2 7,62 mm m240 machine gun.

M1 Abrams was created in response to the request of a new main battle tank announced by the US Army in the 60s of the twentieth century. The new vehicle would replace the Patton family tanks (M47-M48-M60) in the US Army. In the project, which was determined as MBT-70, cooperation with German companies was initiated. A few years later, cooperation was terminated and further work focused only on American companies, especially Chrysler defense concern. Despite a very long analytical, study and experimental work process, which lasted almost 15 years, it was introduced to the M1 Abrams line in the early 1980s. It turned out that it was almost a revolutionary structure and was much superior to the Soviet structures at that time. M1 Abrams is characterized by a powerful 1500 HP engine, first of all - before 1979 - with unprecedented mobility and maneuverability in tanks in this class. Another issue is that the selection of the turbine engine is not very successful, because it requires very careful care and is prone to flame. M1 Abrams also has a very good armor that uses composites and SKO (fire control system). In the M1A1 version, it was also armed with a great 120 mm ball. During the mass production of M1 Abrams, various versions of the tank were created. The first important improvements were made in the M1A1 version, which started production in 1985; Essentially, a more effective 120 -caliber ball was used instead of 105 mm ball. In 1992, the M1A2 version entered the series with a much richer electronic equipment and diluted uranium compared to the previous versions. Then the M1A2 SEP version with even more perfect armor came. The latest versions of the Abrams tank are M1A2 Sepv2 and M1A2 Sepv3 with advanced information exchange, war area control, shooting control systems and developed secondary weapon control systems. The M1 Abrams tank was exported to many countries including Saudi Arabia, Australia, Egypt and Kuwait. Such vehicles took part in many operations, the most important, including the 1990-1991 Gulf War and the 2003 Iraq War.
