Sovremennyj (also known as the project 956) is the name of a class of the Soviet and then Russian missile destroyer, which has been put into service since 1980. In total, 19 units of such types were created. The total length of this type of ships is 156 meters, a total width of 17.3 meters and full displacement is approximately 7,900 tons. The maximum speed is 32 maritime miles. Among the built-in weapons of the oldest ships in this class were: 2 quadruple SS-N-22 rocket launchers, two sa-n-7 rocket launchers, two twin 130 mm balls and 4 sets of 30 mm ak-630.
