Wheelle armored personnel carrier BTR-80 was developed in the late 1970s and entered the Soviet Army in 1984. The mass production of the vehicle started this year and has been going on at the Arzam Machine Factory in the Russian Federation. It is estimated that the number of vehicles produced as of today (2017) is over 5,000. The BTR-80 is operated with a single diesel engine of 260hp and can carry up to 8 troops. The basic weapon of the BTR-80 consists of two machine guns (Kal.: 7,62 mm and 14.5 mm).
