The Mujahideen is a term derived from the Arabic language for Muslim men who voluntarily fight guerrilla against the external military occupation or engaged in military action against the existing power in the state or in a certain region. The mujahideen formations played a major and decisive role during the 1979-1989 Afghanistan War. They were mainly influential in the defeat of the USSR in this war with the support of the US government. The US provided them with all kinds of light weapons, including ammunition, material and Stinger aircraft missiles through allies and various hidden channels. In 1985, it is worth adding that the formation of seven main mujahideen entered an alliance (called the seven alliances) to fight with the USSR, and that it significantly improved the planning and execution of military operations.
