The BMP-3 Infantry War Vehicle was developed in the 1980s and entered the Service of the Soviet Army in 1987. In the same year, mass production has been started and so far (2017) continues in Fabryka Maszyn. It is estimated that more than 2,000 BMP-3 is produced. The vehicle is operated with a single 500HP UTD-29-M diesel engine and can carry up to 7 units. The basic arming of BMP-3 is very unusual. These are: 100 mm 2a70 2a70 ball and 30 mm 2a72 automatic ball. Secondary Arms 1 PKT machine gun caliber: 7.62 mm and 1 atgm launcher (tank -guided missile) is 9m117. It is not easy to evaluate BMP-3 clearly. On the one hand, the biggest advantage of the car is the relatively high maneuverability and swimming ability, as well as remarkable firepower, which leaves its rivals in the western armies. The disadvantages of the BMP -3, especially the first versions, include a very high fault ratio of the vehicle - especially the drive system and the transmission - as well as the fatal placement of troops into the vehicle. In spite of these deficiencies, BMP-3 achieved a significant export success with Russia to sell it to Kuwait, UAE and Greece (NATO country!). BMP-3 has also reached the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
