K1 rocit is a modern 3th generation of South Korea main battle tank. The first prototypes of the vehicle were built in 1983 and mass production, which was started in 1984, is probably still continuing. So far (2018) about 1,000 tanks have been produced. K1, 1,200 HP MTU MB MB 871 KA 501 engine is strengthened. The vehicle is equipped with a single 105 mm m68 tank ball, two 7,62 mm machine guns and a single 12.7 mm machine gun.

In the early 1980s, the command of the South Korean army concluded that it would no longer fit into the modern battlefield, but still used to find a substitute that will replace the M48 Patton. The new tank (K1) was decided to produce as much as possible in Turkey, but with the help of foreign companies, especially Americans. Chrysler Defense, the same company developing the M1 Abrams tank, provided significant help in the work and production of the first series. During the mass production of K1 Rocit, an important development version of this tank was created: M256 K1a1 equipped with 120 mm ball. The K1 version of the tank was offered to Malaysia at the end of the 1990s, but competed with PT-91 to Twardy.
