Pz.kpfw V (SD.KFZ 171) Panther is a German middle tank, considered one of the best tanks of the Second World War. This tool was a response to the Soviet T-34 tank. The first production versions appeared on an early date like 1942, but for the first time in the summer of 1943, the Panther appeared at the front lines of the Battle of Kursk. Due to the very high fault ratio of the vehicle and numerous "childhood" problems, 150 of 204 used vehicles were lost. Interestingly, however, only a few of these 150 vehicles were lost as a result of the Soviet bombardment. After these deficiencies were solved, Panther became famous as an extremely effective tank. He owed it to the well -shaped front armor and the perfect tank ball ball. KWK 42 / L70 Cal 75mm. The basic version of T34 / 76 had no chance against Panther. This has changed only with the emergence of T34/85 and IS-2 tanks. On the other hand, allied Sherman tanks were able to compete with Panther after equipping with a 17 -pound ball (Sherman Firefly). However, it should be remembered that the weakness of this successful design is the high technical complexity of the weak side armor and the entire structure, and thus long production time. During the war, approximately 6,000 Panther vehicles were produced from all versions (Ausf. D, A, G). The first version was the "D" version of 80 mm -thick front armor and 700 horsepower Maybach 230 P30 engine. From the second half of 1943, the tanks in this version had armored aprons. Panther Ausf came into production in September 1943. The body had a global home for the MG-34 rifle. It was produced until March 1944. The "G" version was the most produced version. More than 3,700 tanks were produced from this model. It was produced from March 1944 to January 1945. The angle of the front armor was increased and thickened. The ball shield was also changed. Jagdpanther tank hunter (SD.KFZ 179) was built on the Panther Chassis. When evaluating pz.kpfw V, you should pay attention not only to the large front armor or the ball, but also the disadvantages of the weapon - large general dimensions, sensitive suspension, increasingly worsening armor or weak side armor caused by the lack of molybdenum. Technical data: length (including barrel): 8,66 m, width: 3,42 m, height: 2,99 m, engine power: 700 km, range (on the road): 200 km, maximum speed (on the road): 46 km/h, weapons: 1 ball. 75 mm kWK 42 / l70, 2 7,92 mm mg-34 machine gun.
