The M60 Patton was a 2nd generation American main battle tank. The first prototypes of the car were created in the late 1950s and mass production continued in 1960-1987 and ended with the production of more than 15,000 copies of this tank. The M60 Patton was strengthened with a 750 HP Continental Avda-1790-2 engine. Weapons in the basic version were 105 mm m68 tank ball, 1 12.7 mm m85 machine gun and 1 7.62 mm m73 machine gun.

M60 Patton's design work began when the American intelligence learned that the Soviet Army would even include a new T-62 tank equipped with a 115 mm ball. In order to respond to this new threat, it was decided to rebuild the M48 tank in depth and to create a new vehicle. First of all, new weapons, ie 105 mm ball, was used, the armor was significantly strengthened and a stronger new engine was used. The new design was at least comparable to T-54, T-55 or T-62 tanks, but was lower than the T-64 and T-72 series vehicles, especially in terms of firepower. Three versions of the M60 were produced during mass production. The first of these was that the M60A1, which entered even in 1969, had a new turret and even thick armor. It turned out that the M60A2 version with a 152 mm ball launcher, which can fire guided missiles, was a dead end. Finally, the latest serial version is M60A3, which has a modern fire control system (SKO) with a laser telemetre and passive night vision. The M60 tanks in all versions were exported to many countries including Brazil, Greece, Spain, Israel and Portugal. In addition, the 1973 Yom-Kippur War, the 1980-1988 Iraq-Iran War and the 1990-1991 Basra Gulf War, especially in the Cold War period took part in many armed clashes.
