Dicke Bertha (German: Berta to the group, its official name M-ERAT) is a 420 mm heavy obustuating 420 mm, which was offered to service just before the war as a secret weapon of the German army. Probably only 12 of these weapons were produced. The starting speed of the high -effective bullet was between 400 m / s and the maximum range was between 12,500 and 15,000 meters.

Fat Berta was developed at the Krupp factory as the reaction of Germany to fortifications that became increasingly stronger in Belgium and France just before 1914. Two versions of this weapon were created. The first of these (name: Gamma wz. 1913) was a fixed ball, and the second was a mobile version that could be transported by wheel and railway. Both versions were able to ignite bullets of up to 930 kilograms, which were able to penetrate a 2.5 -meter thick concrete ceiling and armor plate up to 300 mm. This weapon was first used to destroy the castles in Liege, Namur and Manovillers on the Western Front at the beginning of the German offensive in 1914, where impressive successes. It was also used in the Verdun Battle in 1916, but it was less successful.
