Mach 1 has received some important view updates for 1973. The lower body emphasis paint and bright coatings went and the entire car was a single color from top to bottom. All of the '73 Mach 1s had a wide body side strip of black or red in the front of the quarter panel, with a standard “Mustang” in the fender. The trunk lid tape strip was revised and the “Mach 1” letter was now included in the passenger side of the sherry instead of centered on the passenger side as in 71 and 72. The fringe cuts and bright ends were no longer available on 4V vehicles. 1973.

Mustang had to comply with the new NHTSA standards, which required the front and rear bumper to be redesigned. The front bumper of all models was now much larger, body -colored, mounted on the impact -absorbing pads. Due to the revised buffer, the Mach 1 sports lamps were deleted and the parking/rotation signal lamps on all models were moved from the front hair to a vertical location on both ends of the grid. The Mach 1 grille was black with honeycomb patterned and small running honey -running honeycomb. The rear bumper was mounted on the extended brackets that caused the bumper to protrude more than the body and to form a large gap. To fix this, Ford used the filling piece that produces body -colored and a bolted metal sheet filling panel on each quarter panel.

Apart from the reduction of 351HO, the engine options remained almost the same as in 1972. Although the "Cobra Jet" terminology continued in 1973 in 1973 Ford Store Guide and other internal Ford documents, 351-4V was referred to as a CJ of 351-4V as a COBRA jet engine in the '73 Mustang. Turin, Cougar and Monto lines.

351-2V was the only engine that could be used with RAM Air due to the problem with the RAM Air option for emission reasons. The new Ford, which is new for '73, offered a "TU-Tone" body paint process, which consists of black or red paint process and doner locks, but does not contain the actual functional components of the RAM Air system.
