ABOUT:
The first prototype flight is a hunting aircraft which was held on May 25, 1953, developed by North American and is based on F-86 Sabre. Russian equivalent is Mikoyan-Gurevich Mig-19.In addition to the F-100Cs, the F-100D type, which is the AV-Bombardian type, has been developed and has found a wide range of use. Hunter capabilities have been improved, 4 AIM-9 air from air to air were equipped with missiles and M-61 nuclear bombs under the body as a tactical bombardment were made. In addition, F-100F, which is a two-person type of training, is available. All three types are used in THK. 2294 units were produced between 1953-1959, 1274 of which are of F-100D types. In these aircraft, Pratt & Whitney's J57s, the improved model of J47 jet engines produced for F-86s, were used. These engines with "Afterburner" are the first American turbojet to produce over 10,000lb. The name of the F-100s is "Super Sabre".Since 1958, the Turkish Air Force F-100s began to receive delivery within the MAP program. The first arrivals were F-100D and F-100F models and were sent from the USAF inventory. A total of 163 deliveries were received from these aircraft. These include very small amounts of Denmark. This shipment was followed by F-100cs starting from 1972. 115 of them were sent. It is known that these aircraft are used by at least five air bases. Turkish F-100s were used intensively and effectively in the Cyprus Operation. The last THKV F-100 was retired in 1988.
