HMS Erebus is the name of a series of ships belonging to the British Royal Navy. Here are the most famous of these ships:

HMS Erebus (1826): This was a Buzz ship built for Erebus, Royal Navy. It was launched in 1826 and used to participate in the North Pole and Antarctic discoveries. In 1848, Sir John disappeared during a research trip when he was looking for a northwestern crossing.
HMS Erebus (1846): This Erebus was a second ship bearing the name of the ship built in 1826. It was used as part of the Arctic reconnaissance trip by Sir John Franklin. He disappeared during the Arctic Discovery trip that Franklin Exports lost and was found on ice in Canada in 2014.

Both HMS Erebus were particularly used for discovery purposes and were chosen because they were resistant to challenging conditions such as Antarctica with the North Pole. The Second Erebus was accepted as a loss for a long time until it was discovered in Canada in 2014.
