Hobbytime Model Information

This plastic model assembly kit recreates the S40 touring car developed by Volvo to compete in the 1997 touring car race. The 1/24 scale build accurately recreates the compact four-door sedan body style, measuring approximately 189 mm in length and 77 mm in width. The chassis has a richly detailed surface with its mechanically detailed front and rear suspension. The unique interior, where the driver's seat slides, has been faithfully modeled, including the extensive roll cage. Its simple appearance should not be overlooked. NuNu's standard 1/24 kit parts configuration ensures a reliable assembly. The markings recreate the car's 1997 BTCC Brands Hatch victory. Decals are included, including the stripes on the body. Although this car is not well known in Japan, this kit reflects the true power of the BTCC champion.

While Volvo continued to compete in passenger car racing with the Volvo 240 Turbo and 850 Estate models, it introduced a new car based on the compact S40 sedan model in 1997. Developed to compete in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) This car won the race at Brands Hatch on 7 September. It produced a maximum power of 300 horsepower with its front-mounted, inline five-cylinder, 1999 cc engine. Positioning it as close as possible to the forward bulkhead provides a lower center of gravity and It provided centralized mass for fast handling. In the car driven by Swedish driver Ricardo Liddell and British driver Kelvin Burt, Ricardo achieved just one win in his first season in 1997, while the following year Riddell achieved five wins and won the Drivers' Championship.
