Hobbytime Model Information

This is a plastic model assembly kit of the Mitsubishi Lancer Turbo that competed in the Hong Kong-Beijing Rally held in September 1985. This 1/24 scale model kit recreates the vehicle exactly. The sharp, flat surface design of the body has been meticulously recreated. The markings are, of course, faithfully recreated with decals taken from the car that competed in the first Hong Kong-Beijing Rally in 1985. Not only the exterior details, but also the lower part of the chassis, including the suspension, have been meticulously recreated. Complete with an internal safety cage, the interior also features detailed racing seats and rally equipment on the dashboard. Simple appearance is one of the joys of a rally car model. While it's fun to create a beautiful look, it's also fun to recreate the dusty look of the vehicle from racing on rally stages with paint.

The Lancer Turbo is Mitsubishi's rally car that debuted in the 1981 World Rally Championship. It was based on the European-specification Lancer EX2000 Turbo introduced in 1979. It is a front-engine, rear-wheel drive, two-wheel drive vehicle developed in accordance with Group 4 regulations. The front-mounted engine was a 1997 cc inline four-cylinder SOHC engine. It was equipped with a single Mitsubishi Heavy Industries intercooler turbocharger and produced 280 horsepower. Following further development and improvements, the Lancer Turbo competed in the Hong Kong-Beijing Rally held from 15 to 19 September 1985. This was the first rally held that year and marked its debut on Chinese soil, racing against rival manufacturers from overseas and Japan.
