Hobbytime Model Information

This plastic assembly kit recreates the Toyota Celica GT-FOUR ST165 rally car driven by Marc Duez of the Toyota FINA team, who finished 4th in the Tour de Corse, the 5th round of the 1991 World Rally Championship. This 1/24 scale model is approximately 180 mm long and 70 mm wide. The aerodynamic body style is sharply modeled, showcasing the Toyota FINA team color scheme and badging. The markings are, of course, faithfully recreated with detailed decals based on the car Duez drove in the 1991 Tour de Corse. Not only the exterior appearance, but also the cockpit, roll bars and various rally equipment have been faithfully recreated and given a truly simple appearance. The lower part of the chassis also features a richly detailed 4WD drivetrain layout and front and rear suspension. The unique color scheme, different from the factory car, makes this historic Japanese rally car a truly fascinating experience.

The Celica GT-FOUR ST165 is Toyota's Group A rally car, making its debut competing in the World Rally Championship (WRC) in 1988. Developed on the basis of the fourth generation Celica, the vehicle had an aerodynamic, two-door hatchback body. It had a transversely mounted, 1988 cc inline four-cylinder engine and a turbocharged all-wheel drive system. In 1990, driver Carlos Sainz won the World Championship, giving Toyota its first championship. Later, the car was used not only by the factory team but also by the Toyota FINA team. At the Tour de Corse, the fifth round of the 1991 WRC, Sainz took first place with the factory team, while Marc Duez, driving for the Toyota FINA team, finished fourth and showed the true potential of the Celica.
