This 1/24 scale plastic model assembly kit recreates the Audi Sport Quattro S1 [E2], Audi's Group B rally car that competed in the 1986 Monte Carlo Rally (the first leg of the WRC). The impressive body style with wide fenders and rear spoiler is the distinguishing feature of the evolution model with an overall length of approximately 178 mm. The exterior, including air vents and other fine details, has been meticulously recreated, faithfully capturing the intense expression of the rally car. The simple interior with its highly detailed underbody, 4WD suspension and extensive roll bars also recreates the dynamic power of a rally car. Making history by introducing 4WD to the World Rally Championship, Audi participated in the 1984 WRC and World Rally Championship with the Sport Quattro S1. Competing in the WRC's first 4WD car in 1981, quattro was developed to comply with the Group B regulations that came into force in 1984. Notable features included a wheelbase shortened by more than 300 mm and a shorter overall body length. The engine was a front-turbocharged 2133 cc inline five-cylinder engine. Further evolution, including improved weight distribution and larger aerodynamic parts, led to the S1 [E2] in 1985. Walter Röhrl competed in his first WRC round, the Monte Carlo Rally, in 1986 and finished second behind a Lancia Delta S4.
