Hobbytime Review

British Aerospace Harrier II is the second generation vertical/short departure and landing (V/Stol) jet aircraft used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the Royal Navy (RN) between 2006 and 2010. The aircraft was the latest development of the Harrier Jump Jet family and was derived from McDonnell Douglas Av-8B Harrier II. The first deliveries of Harrier II were determined as Harrier Gr5 in the service; Later, the upgraded aircraft trunks were renamed as GR7 and GR9.

Under the joint force Harrier organization, both the shelf and RN operated by the Harrier II under the RAF's air command, including deployment on the Invincible -class aircraft carriers. Harrier II participated in numerous conflicts and made significant contributions to combat theaters such as Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. The main function of the species was the fact that it was a platform for air service and close air support tasks; Harrier II was also used for power projection and reconnaissance tasks. Harrier II served with Sea Harrier at Joint Force Harrier.

In December 2010, budget prints caused all Harrier IIs to retire early from service, and at this point was the last of the Harrier derivatives in British service. In March 2011, the decision to retire Harrier was controversial because there was no change in a fixed -winged change in the role, or there was no fixed -wing carrier plane left in the service; Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II was replaced by the Harrier II in the long run.
