GRUMMAN S-2 TRACKER was an American sea patrol and ZOP (anti-submarine) plane in high-wing configuration. The prototype flight took place in 1952 and the plane was put into service two years later (1954). In the mass production process, including licensed production, approximately 1,280 machines were produced. The drive was provided with two Wright R-1820-82A engine, each of which was 1,525 HP. The length of the aircraft was 13.26 meters and the wing opening was 22.1 meters. The machine did not have permanent weapons equipment, but it could install depth loads and torpedoes up to 2,200 kilograms. The S-2 Tracker aircraft was originally developed by Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation for the US navy. The new aircraft would replace AF-2 Guardian aircraft produced by the same manufacturer. Compared to AF-2, the new aircraft was much more autonomous in performing tasks, and first of all, it could be performed alone, not in couples like AF-2. As a result, GRUMMAN S-2 turned out to be a successful design that fulfills its duties. During the production, many development versions were created, including S2F-1T (Training Version), S2F-2P (photographic discovery version) or US-2F (shipping version). Such aircraft were exported to many countries such as Argentina, Brazil and South Korea. The plane also had a license in Canada.
