AH-1 Cobra helicopter (Bell 209) is an attack helicopter in the classical order that uses many components of the "brother" UH-1 Huey. The first flight of the AH-1 prototype took place on September 7, 1965 and in the same year helicopter entered mass production. During the Vietnam War, 1,126 machines were produced from the G model and 279 of them were lost in the war. Due to its very high reliability, small side profile and good performance of the structure, the helicopter has been in service to the US Maritime Posts to date. AH-1 allowed the US army to fully implement the theoretical assumption of air-moving infantry ("air cavalry") through fire support of the infantry units. Today, AH-1 cobra is primarily used against armored subpores. As of 1965, various versions of this successful helicopter have been created: AH-1G (Basic Version), AH-1J (two-motor version), AH-1Q (equipped with Tow missiles).
