Oshkosh M1070 is primarily an American military heavy truck tractor dedicated to the transport of tanks. The production of the vehicle started in 1992 and still continues. The truck is operated with a single Detroit-Diats or CatterPilar diesel engine of 500 or 700 HP. The tractor is 9.09 meters long and 2.59 meters wide. The maximum speed is between 72 and 81 km/h. In the late 1980s, Oshkosh M1070 was developed for the needs of the US armed forces trying to obtain a new wheel carrier for M1 Abrams MBTs. The main version of the vehicle is the M1070A0 model and has been delivered to the US army in a total of 2,500 units. The first order of the modernized version (M1070A1) started in 2011. A version of the M1070F currently used by the British army has also been created. In 2008, the Global HET version, which first targets export markets, was also released. Oshkosh M1070 vehicles were used in operations in Afghanistan after 2001 and during the 2003 Iraq War.
