Hobbytime Review

The beginning of the development of German swap motor artillery can be thought that the concept of an attack weapon (German: Sturmgeschütz - Stug), which aims to support the attack activities of German infantry, can be considered in the mid -1930s. Most of the time, the author of this idea is thought to be later Marshal Erich von Manstein. The first prototypes of such vehicles were created in 1937 and when they entered mass production, they called Stug III. It was first used in the French operation in 1940. During this operation, bison balls (sometimes referred to as sturmpable), ie 150 mm SIG balls mounted on the Panzer I chassis were also used. Later in the Second World War, the German army has increasingly launched a more perfect flutter motor weapons on a large scale. Armored and mechanized troops were equipped with tools such as Wespe or very successful Hummel, which enabled a significant improvement in the mobility of artillery in these units. Stug III cars were also developed and Stug IV car was presented for production. At the end of the war, a small number of Sturmtiger vehicles equipped with a 380 mm rocket mortar appeared.
