S-75 Daugava (NATO Definition: SA-2 Guideline) was a Soviet land missile designed to destroy the middle and high altitude targets from the Cold War period. SA-2 was a two-stage missile with a range of up to 45 kilometers, carrying a war head of up to 200 kilograms and destroying targets up to 25,000 meters.

In the early 1950s, the American Air Force began to develop the fleet of strategic bombing planes (B-47 and later B-52), which would reduce nuclear coups on the USSR territory. This fact led the Soviet Union to start working on a new anti-aircraft missile in 1953, which was finally Sa-2. It was first introduced to the public in 1957. Probably in the same year, the Sa-2 was introduced to a large scale of the Soviet Army's anti-aircraft troops. At the introduction, the system presented high combat capabilities and was an unpleasant surprise for the USAAF. In 1960, the Sa-2 rocket proved its value by dropping a U-2 aircraft used by Francis Powers. This weapon was also sold by the USSR to Northern Vietnam and effectively limited the freedom of operation of American planes during the Vietnam War (1964 / 1965-1975). Later, most importantly, many systems upgrades with S-75M Volkhov (NATO definition: SA-2C) with significantly higher parameters, shorter reaction times and better guidance systems were introduced. SA-2 missiles were exported to many countries including Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Egypt, Moldova, Poland and Romania. They also took part in many armed conflicts. In addition to the Vietnam war mentioned above, for example, the six-day war (1967), 1965 and 1971 India-Pakistan Wars, Yom-Kippur War (1973) and the Iraq-Iran War (1980-1988) participated in the War.
