Hepa 538237 1/500 Scale, Icelandair Boeing 757-300 (100 Years Icelandic Independence) TF-ISX, Metal, Ready for Display Model Y.
In the 1970s, Boeing set out to develop a successor to its best-selling three-engine 727 on medium-range flights. The result was the twin-engine 757, which promised better performance and higher efficiency. Between 1981 and 2004, 1,050 of these aircraft left Boeing factories. A seven-meter longer variant has been developed especially for medium-haul routes in high demand, such as the German holiday airline Condor. The result was the 757-300 with an overall length of 54.4 meters and a capacity for up to 295 passengers in single-class seating. The first customer, Condor, purchased 15 of these aircraft starting in 1999 and became the largest operator of this variant, along with Continental Airlines and Delta Air Lines. In addition to its numerous 757-200 aircraft, Icelandair currently operates two 223-passenger 757-300 aircraft; one of them, TF-ISX, has been carrying Iceland's national colors since 2018 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Iceland's independence.
