Never say never: This phrase, frequently used in song lyrics and movie titles, also applies to aviation. After the Covid-19 pandemic forced the world into lockdown and airlines struggling to survive decided to decommission or retire their A380 superjumbo aircraft, British Airways, one of the operators of this type of aircraft, retired its Boeing 747s earlier than planned but aimed to return its fleet of twelve A380s to service as soon as possible. Since 2021, all superjumbo aircraft have been gradually returned to service, including the sixth A380, G-XLEF, which was originally delivered to British Airways in 2014. This new version features several improvements over the previous production series: two satellite domes have been added to the fuselage, as well as static ports on the fuselage sides and some additional prints such as maintenance marks and the Rolls-Royce logo on the four engines.
