Hobbytime Review

Sikorsky SH-3 Sea King (also known as Sikorsky S-61) is a multi-purpose military helicopter developed for the US Navy. The first prototype took flight in 1959 and entered service in 1961. The helicopter has a length of 16.7 meters and a main rotor diameter of 19 meters. It is powered by two General Electric T58-GE-10 engines, each producing 1400 horsepower. The maximum speed is 267 km/h. The helicopter has a classical configuration with a single main rotor and a tail rotor.

The Sikorsky SH-3 Sea King was developed for the US Navy to perform anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and other tasks. Over time, its capabilities were expanded to include tasks such as search and rescue, and open-sea operations. During its production, great emphasis was placed on its reliability and ability to stay in the air for long periods. Many development versions were produced, including the SH-3A (the first, fully serialized version for the US Navy), CH-3B (a transport version for the US Air Force), HH-3E Jolly Green Giant (a rescue and search helicopter), and UH-3H (a transport version for the US Navy). Additionally, the helicopter was licensed for production in the UK as the Westland Sea King. It flew for the first time in 1969 and differed significantly from its American predecessor, primarily due to the use of Rolls-Royce Gnome engines. It also featured significant upgrades to its avionics and other equipment for ASW operations.
