The Nissan Skyline is a Japanese passenger car that has been classified as a compact car, mid-size car, and upper mid-size car (compact executive car) throughout its production history. The car was launched in 1957 and its production is still ongoing. In the generation launched in 2014, the car is 479 cm long, 182 cm wide and has a wheelbase of 285 cm.
The vehicle introduced was initially produced by Prince Motor Company, but during their merger with Nissan in 1967, it began to be produced under the name Nissan Skyline. It is also worth noting that the person who made the biggest impact on the development of this vehicle was engineer Shinichiro Samurai, who previously worked at the Prince Motor Company factories. It is assumed that he directly or indirectly influenced the technical solutions of the Skyline model until his death in 2011! Chronologically, the first generation of the vehicle was produced between 1957 and 1964 and can be classified as a fairly luxury vehicle powered by 1.5 or 1.9 liter engines. Over time – and with the introduction of subsequent generations – the Skyline became increasingly sportier; This can be seen in the 1968-1972 models, especially in the case of the 2-door coupe. The turning point of the Skyline model is considered to be its versions (C211 and CG211), launched in 1977 with a completely new 6-cylinder engine. The newest version of the Skyline model has been on the market since 2014 and uses 2.0 and 3.0-liter internal combustion engines as well as a 3.5-liter hybrid engine as the drive unit. Undoubtedly, thanks to its long history and technical advantages, the Skyline model deserves the name "cult car".
