Myoko (DDG-175) is a modern Japanese missile destroyer whose keel was laid in 1993, launched in October 1994, and entered service in 1996. The total length of the ship is 161 meters and its width is 21 meters. Its full displacement is approximately 9,500 tons and its maximum speed is around 30-31 knots. The destroyer is equipped with the following weapons: 2 VLS Mk. 41 (one with 29 rails, the other with 61 rails), two quad RGM-84 Harpoon missile launchers, a single 127mm Mark 45 gun, or a set of two 20mm Vulcan Phalanx. The ship has a landing pad for a helicopter.

Myoko (DDG-175) is the third of four destroyers of the Kongo class. In the second half of the 1980s, it was decided in Japan to create a new class of missile destroyers with significantly greater combat capabilities than the previous Hatakaze class ships. At the same time, it was assumed that the new destroyers would be multi-purpose, but their ability to counter air targets would obviously be increased. Finally, in order to reduce research and development costs and facilitate cooperation with US Navy units, the new Japanese destroyer class project was based on American Arleigh Burke Flight I units. Thus, Congo-type units have the revolutionary AEGIS network combat system, which cooperates with the AN/SPY-1 radar, which gave them unprecedented possibilities to control airspace and counter air targets. They also have vertical missile launch systems (VLS), which significantly increase their combat capabilities. For legal and political reasons, Kongo-class destroyers are not equipped with BGM-109 Tomahawk missiles. The third ship of this class, Myoko (DDG-175), was built at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries shipyard in Nagasaki. Its name is II. It refers to the Japanese heavy cruiser of World War II and the mountain of the same name in Japan. The ship underwent modernization at the beginning of 2008-2009, as a result of which it received a modernized AEGIS system (BMD 3.06 version), which allows detecting ballistic missiles. It is also adapted to fire Standard SM-3 anti-ballistic missiles. As an interesting tidbit, Myoko "appeared" in the 2012 American movie "Battleship".
