The P-40 gained an immortal reputation as the "flying tiger" of the 2nd World War, where General Claire Chennault was fighting against the Japanese in China and Burma by the volunteer group of General Claire Chennault. The Guillow Model Aircraft company was founded in 1926 under the name of Nu Craft Toys. The company was founded by Paul K. Guillow, a pilot who served in the US Navy in World War I.
