In July 1977, the W124 program officially started and R & D began to work under the newly appointed Werner Breitschwerdt. In April 1978, decisions were made to base the Mercedes-Benz W201. Until April 1979, a package plan for the program was completed. In the winter of 1980-1981, the last exterior of the W124 program was completed, selected as a leading proposal by Design Director Bruno Sacco and approved by the Board of Directors at the beginning of 1981. Production design was installed and sent to the test. In March 1984, pilot production started and the development of the sedan was completed with engineering approval.The front suspension used a separate bow and shock absorber with rubber top installation. The W124's rear suspension included Mercedes, which was introduced in 1982 with Mercedes W201 and is currently standard in many modern cars.
