HMS Endeavour, also known as HM Bark Endeavour, was a British royal navy research ship, commanded by Lieutenant James Cook to his first reconnaissance journey from 1769 to 1771 to Australia and New Zealand. In 1764, the miner was launched as a Count of Pembroke, in 1768, the navy was purchased for a scientific mission to the Pacific Ocean for a scientific task and for the estimated Terra Australis Incognita or for the "unknown southern lands". He was renamed and assigned as an effort of the shell of his majesty, left Plymouth in August 1768, rolled Cape Horn, and reached Tahiti in time to observe the passage of Venus from the Sun to 1769. Later, he sailed to the south largely undiscovered ocean and stopped in the Pacific Islands Huahine, Borabora and Raiatea to allow Cook to claim the right for the Great Britain. In September 1769, he anchored off the New Zealand, the first European ship to reach the islands since Abel Tasman's HeemsKerck 127 years ago. In April 1770, Endeavour then set out to the north along the coast of Australia. After sitting ashore in the Great Set Reef, he survived the disaster and he ashore for seven weeks to allow the primitive repairs of his body for seven weeks. On October 10, 1770, he came to the harbor for more important repairs in Batavia in the Netherlands East Indian Islands (his current name Jakarta). He resumed his journey to the west on December 26th, on March 13, 1771, he crossed the Cape of Hope and reached the British Dover port on July 12 when he had been at sea for nearly three years. Endeavour, who was largely forgotten after his epic journey, spent the next three years moving their navy stores to the Falkland Islands. He was renamed in 1775 and sold to special hands, he returned to the sea service as a unity transport during the American War of Independence for a short time, and in 1778 Narragragansett Gulf fell into the water in a blockade in Rhode Island. It is exhibited in sea museums around the world, including six balls and an anchor. A copy of Endeavour was launched in 1994 and approached the Australian National Maritime Museum in Sidney Port. The space shuttle Endeavour was named after the original ship. Endeavour is located in the fifty -cyb of New Zealand to recognize the important place of the country in the history of the country.
