About Endurance

Endurance was the three-pole barquentine that a crew of Sir Ernest Shackleton and a crew of 27 people and a cat set sail for Antarctica in the 1914–1917 Empire Trans-Antarctica Expedition. It was started in 1912 in Norway in Sandfjord; Three years later, he was crushed by the ice mass and sank in the Weddell Sea off the Antarctica. The entire crew survived.

Durability August 1914, 6 Plymouth departed and the course set Buenos Aires, under the command of Argentina Worsley. Shackleton stayed in the UK, completed the organization of the reconnaissance trip and participated in some last -minute donation collection. This was his first great journey after Endurance's completion, and coincided with a jolt journey. The journey during the Atlantic lasted more than two months. The body, built for ice, was accepted as too round for the open ocean by most of the team. Shackleton took a ferry to Buenos Aires and reached the discovery trip a few days after Endurance's arrival. On October 26, 1914, Endurance went to Buenos Aires, the last stop point of whale hunting station in Grytviken on the South Georgia Island, where he arrived on November 5th. On December 5, 1914, he left Grytviken and set out for the southern regions of the Weddell Sea. Two days after leaving South Georgia, the Endurance polar package met ice and slowed down. Endurance went through the package for weeks by traveling a distance of less than 48 km per day. On January 15, 1915, Endurance was close to 200 miles (320 km) to the Gulf of Vahsel. The next morning, intense ice was seen and a storm developed in the afternoon. Under these circumstances, progress could not be made before, and the durability took refuge in the wind of a large iceberg. During the next two days, Endurance moved back and forth under the protection of the mountain.

On January 18, the storm began to alleviate and Endurance opened the upper sail when the engine was slow. The package had flown up. Slow progress was made until hours later, Endurance faced a flock once again. It was decided to progress and work on the package, and Endurance entered it at 17:00. This ice was different from the previously encountered, and the ship was soon between the thick but soft arrogant ice and was besieged. The storm increased its severity and continued to blow from north to land for six more days. On January 24, the wind completely squeezed the ice in the Weddell Sea against the land and left Endurance as ice -wing as much as possible. [2] The only thing that could be done was to wait for a southern storm that would reduce and open the pressure of the ice. In the early hours of January 24, a large crack appeared on the ice in front of the ship in front of 50 yard (46 m). Initially, it was 15 fit (4.6 m) wide, a quarter miles (0.4 km) wide until the middle of the morning, and the men gave Endurance. I hope the ice was broken. However, the Mola never reached the ship itself, and although the ship was full and three hours at full speed in the engine, the ship did not move. In the following days, the team waited for the southern storm to leave the pressure on the ice, but as the wind returned to the south/southwest direction, the wind remained light and irregular. There were occasional breaks on ice, but none of them reached the ship, and all of them closed within a few hours. On January 27, the ice around the ship was cut and broken by hand labor and trials, but this remained unsuccessful.

On February 14, an open water channel was opened in front of the ship in front of the quarter miles (0.4 km) and the dawn swim in a pool of soft, young ice, maximum 2 fit (0.61 m) thick. However, the pool was surrounded by a thickness of 12–18 fit (3.7–5.5 m) with a thickness of 3.7-5.5 m thick and prevented the road to the open road. One -day continuous operation of the crew saw that they hacked a clear channel of 150 yars (140 m). This study continued during the next day (February 15) and steam rose, backed as much as possible in the pool to allow the durability to pass through the channel. As the ship went back for successive trials, lines were connected to the relaxed ice blocks, estimated to weigh 20 tons (18 tons) from the bow to clean the road. The pool proved to be too small to accelerate enough to open the road to the ship, and at the end of the day the ice began to freeze again. Until 15:00, durability had traveled a distance of 200 yars (180 m) on ice, 400 yars (370 m) to go to a cleaner water. Shackleton decided that coal and manpower consumption and the risk of damaging the ship was huge and called for stopping.
