About HMS Warrior

HMS Warrior is a 40 -armed, steam -powered armored frigate built for the royal navy in 1859–1861. It is the Was name of the warrior of the warrior -class Ironclads. Warrior and his sister ship HMS Black Prince were the first armor -covered, iron -bodied warships, and in response to France's first armored warship, the first armored warship on the ocean in 1859. In 1863, the warrior took a promotional tour in the Great Britain and spent his active career at the channel fleet. Following the commissioning of the Prepain and more talented HMS Devastation in 1873, he was in the reserve in 1875 and was "paid" in 1883. Later, he served as a warehouse and warehouse ship, and in 1904 he was appointed to the Torpido Training School of the Royal Navy. The ship was transformed into an oil scaffold in 1927 and remained in this role until 1979, donated to the Maritime Foundation by the navy for restoration. The restoration process lasted eight years and during this time, many features and equipment were either restored or re -created. When this was done, he returned to Portsmouth as a museum ship. The national historical Fleet, listed as part of it, has been based on Portsmouth since 1987.

Avaşçı's armor was supported by 18 inches (457 mm) tattoo iron, 4.5 inches (114 mm). Iron armor, tongue and gutter method clamped each other 3 x 12 fit (0.91 x 3,66 m) were made of plates. He was bolt from the tick tree to the iron body. The tick consisted of two layers of 9 -inch thickness (229 mm) placed at perpendicular angles; Otherwise, they strengthened the armor by damping the shock waves caused by the impact of the bullets that would break the bolts connecting the armor to the body. Most of the ship was then made by the rolling process instead of Warrrior's armor hammer. When the warrior was launched, in October 1861, based on the tests in Shoeburyness, "he was practically invincible from ammunition during use". The armor covered the middle 213 fit (64.9 m) part of the ship and stretched over 16 fit (4.9 m) of the water line and below 6 feet (1.8 m). The weapons on the main deck were protected from rake fire with 4.5 -inch transverse curtains. The ends of the ship were unprotected, but it was divided into waterproof compartments to minimize the flood. The lack of armor in the ass meant that the steering gear and the rudder were vulnerable.
