About HMS ESSEX

HMS Essex was one of the 10 Monmouth -class armored cruisers built for the royal navy in the first decade of the 20th century. After the completion of 1904, he was appointed as the channel Fleet of the 2 Cruiser fleet. The ship was placed in the reserve March 1906 and the 4th Cruiser Squadron on North America and West Indian Islands Station on the 4th Cruiser Squadron to serve with Recommissioned.
