SD.KFZ. 3 (Nim. SonDerkraftfahrzeug 3) or Maultier is the general name of a series of German semi -crawled trucks dating from the 2nd World War. The first prototypes of these cars were produced in 1941 and mass production continued in 1941-1945. The provocation was provided by various power units - in case of Opel Blitz truck conversion, a single 6 -cylinder engine with a capacity of 3.6 liters.

Vehicle Series SD.KFZ. 3 Maultier was created as a result of the disaster experiences of the German army in the Eastern Front in 1941 in the early months of his operations. During these struggles, standard Wehrmacht trucks could not cope with Soviet roads and are not particularly suitable for use during dissolution in autumn. This led to the modernization of the standard trucks produced by Opel or Mercedes-Benz, rather than rear axles, consisting of the addition of palette traction, which is mostly based on solutions used in Panzer I and Panzer II tanks. Most of the modernized vehicles were based on the Opel Blitz car.
