About
While the German army is looking for a solution that will keep the support of mobile artillery on the front,A solution that brings together the StugıII Platform and SIG.33 ball was put forward.
Within the scope of this project initiated by Alkett, the balls placed on Stug III platforms of 24 vehicles were transformed into a mobile fortifications on all four sides.
In October 1942, the first delivery began to be made, and the vehicles referred to the troops in the German 6th in the annexation of Stalingrad showed the desired success.
Thanks to the preferred castle structure in its production, it has protected itself from both the armor to be protected from enemy tanks and the explosives used by the Soviet infantry.
During the War of Stalingrad, the surrender of the German army due to hunger caused the vehicles to get into the Soviet hand.
During the war, some mobile artillery was referred to various troops and used.
The vehicles participating in the operation in September 1944 were retired.
5 of the vehicles seized in the Soviet Stalingrad are exhibited in the Kubinka Museum.
