About
At the beginning of 1928, the Japanese army developed amphibious tanks and created various experimental models such as Sumida Amphius Armored Car (AMP), SR I-GO, SR II RO-GO, SR III Ha-Go. As one -time prototypes for the concept test in the 1930s. The SR series was equipped with 3.6 to 7 tons of amphibious tanks and equipped with machine guns.
In 1940, the Japanese imperial navy took over the development of amphibious vehicles. Mitisubishi was based on the SR program and the Type 95 Ha-Go light tank. Type 1 Mi-Sha A / K / A / "TYPE 1 floating tank ka-mi" was the first IJN prototype. Type 1 led to the development of Type 2 Ka-Mi, produced in 1942. Type 2 KA-MI is designed for the amphibious invasion of the Pacific Islands and various private areas without enough port facility for IJN's special navy landing forces. Type 2 Ka-mi tanks were organized as "several amphibious tank units". Since 1942, only 182 to 184 units of this tank were produced.
