VK 45.02 (P), II. It was the official appointment of a heavy tank project produced by Porsche in Nazi Germany during World War II.
The development of this vehicle started in April 1942. The Krupp company received an order for the construction of TARET. However, when the prototypes could not reach the speed limits expected from the test phase, they were suspended and mounted on the first Tiger IIs produced.
VK 4501 (P) After failing to win the contract, Ferdinand Porsche began to look for ways to develop design for a future version. However, based on the latest allied tank designs, it was clear that increasing the armor on VK 4501 (P) would not be enough to remain competitive. He had to have more weight and more maneuverability. Initially, it started as a single tool entitled "Type 180" into five series of vehicles that require the development of two body configurations: from the back of the rear hinten and vorne front of the front or the electric and hydraulic drive system and four different motor versions. The entire project was produced as VK 45.02 (P) and its tests were completed.
The vehicles were delivered to the troops, but they could not really show themselves in their struggles because they did not have mass production.
After the war, they were taken to England for test and recycling purposes.
