About
10 cm Schwere Kanone 18 (10 cm SK 18) by Germany II. It was a field weapon used in World War II. The German army wanted a new 10.5 cm weapon to share the same car, as well as 15 cm howitzer. Longer -barreled weapons are heavier than howitzers. This also led to 15 cm SFH 18. Both weapons had a similar weight and could be transported by a similar carrier. In 1926, Krupp and Rheinmetall had exemplary designs and the prototypes were ready until 1930, but did not go to the field until 1933-34. Both Krupp and Rheinmetall competed for the development agreement, but Wehrmacht endangered Krupp's cars with Rheinmetall's pistol and chose.
Sometimes it equipped the Middle Artillery Battalion of the German departments (with 15 cm SFH 18), but was often used for independent artillery battalions and coast defense tasks. Some were used as tank weapons in the first stages of the war on the eastern front and in the self -driven weapon "Dicker Max". Until 1945, about 1,500 weapons were produced. After the war, he served with Albanian and Bulgarian armies.
