Korsun - Şevçenkovski offensive is a battle between 24 January and 16 February 1944 and causing Korsun - Circassian siege.
The offensive is part of the Dnieper-Carchers Offensive.
During this operation, the 2nd Ukrainian Front under the command of Nikolay Vatutin and the 2nd Ukrainian Front forces under the command of Ivan Konev, some troops of the German Southern Armies Group trapped the Dnieper River and besieged them.
In the clashes that lasted for weeks, the Red Army forces tried to destroy the German forces under siege.
German troops under the siege managed to help the siege in cooperation with other German troops who came to help from outside.
About two -thirds of these forces managed to survive.
