Hobbytime Model Information

This weapon is a candidate to become a legend! Eighty-eight, probably World War II. It is the most well-known artillery weapon of World War II.
Developed after meticulous research, this BRAND NEW set greatly exceeds the level of detail of other sets on the market and includes many extra features.

About 88mm Flak:
German 88 mm Flak, probably World War II. It is the most well-known, even famous, artillery piece of World War II. It was not a single gun, but a series of anti-aircraft guns, officially designated 8.8 cm Flak 18, 36 or 37. Flak is short for Fliegerabwehrkanone, which means anti-aircraft gun in German, and this was the original purpose of the 88 mm Flak.
Featuring a two-piece barrel for easier replacement of worn internal linings, the Flak 36 featured a new (and heavier) trailer that dropped its base while on wheels, allowing it to be set up much more quickly. This made it much more useful for troops during rapid movement operations, which formed the basis of the concept of lightning warfare (blitzkrieg).
Gun number eighty-eight was used in two roles: one as a mobile heavy anti-aircraft battery and the other in a more static role for the defense of Germany. In this latter role, the guns were arranged in large batteries, directed by a single control device, and rarely moved. Changes made to the Flak 36 increased mobility at the expense of weight.
