Hobbytime Model Information

German anti-tank gun 7.5 cm Pak 40 (7.5 cm Panzerabwehrkanone 40) from World War II. Work on this gun was carried out by Krupp and Rheinmetall between 1939 and 1941. After the start of Operation Barbarossa and the encounter of German armored units with KW-1 and T-34 tanks, there was a significant acceleration in research studies. The Pak 40 gun was included in the line troops from the end of 1941. Thanks to its high parameters, it became the main anti-tank gun of the Germans until the end of the war. The IS-2 was able to engage all Soviet and Allied tanks until the advent of vehicles such as the M26 Pershing and Centurion. During the period 1941-1945, more than 29,000 of these weapons (including guns mounted on tank destroyers) were produced. Its main disadvantage was its relatively high weight, which required the use of an artillery tractor to transport it. It was often used as a field gun due to its wide range of ammunition. Bullet weights ranged from 4.1 kg to 6.8 kg. Technical data: caliber: 75 mm, weight: 1425 kg, muzzle velocity: 930 m/s (sub-caliber projectile), rate of fire: 14 shots/minute. After the war, the Pak 40 gun was used in the armies of Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Finland, Romania and Hungary, among others.
