Dragon 6200 1/35 Scale, German Railway Gun 28cm K5(E) (Leopold), Plastic Model Kit
K5 28 cm Kanone 5 E (Eisenbahn), II. It is a German rail gun developed by Krupp as part of the "Sofort Program" during World War II. It was the most successful German rail gun of that period. Their prototypes were produced in 1936, and at the time of the invasion of France the Wehrmacht already had 8 such guns. The K5 E was a conventional 280 mm rifled gun, but a 310 mm smoothbore version known as the K5 Glatt was also produced. K5 E took part in the French campaign in 1940 and in the battles of Leningrad (1942) and Stalingrad (1942-1943). They also gained great fame at the Battle of Anizo in Italy (1944), when two German K5 E's named "Robert" and "Leopold" attacked Allied positions very effectively. The second ball is currently on display in the museum in Aberdeen.
