7.5 cm Non -backing Rifle Leichtgeschütz 40 (7.5 cm LG40) is a German Second World War weapon designed for the needs of air units (Fallschirmjäger), also used by mountain shooters. Design studies began at the beginning of 1937 with Rheinmetall concern, and the first units took ready -made weapons in 1940. Two types of missiles were used in the gun: high explosive and tank missiles. Due to its light design, the average life of the first LG40s was about 300 shoots. The weapon was baptized during the Mercury operation (in 1941 to Crete), and in 1942, he was used largely by German mountain shooters at the foot of the Caucasus. The weapon remained in stock until the end of the war. The LG40 was very successful and was appreciated by soldiers because 90 %lighter than the PAK40 weapon, but it had similar ballistic features of the bullet.
