About
ZG 1229 Vampire 1229 (ZG 1229), also known as the code name vampire, II. It was an active infrared device designed for night use for Wehrmacht during World War II.
Vampire materials were first used in February 1945 in the war.
However, the introduction of small weapons infrared device took place in the beginning of 1944.
In the last stages of the war, 310 units were delivered to Wehrmacht.
The Eastern Front reports consist of snipers who shoot at night with the help of "strange glowing flashlights combined with tremendous optical landscapes" mounted on their rifles.
Similar infrared gear MG34 and MG42 machine guns were attached.
Even if it was used towards the end of the war, they had their last struggles with organized teams and the German, allies and the Soviets at night.
The foundation of the night vision devices used today is based on vampire optics.
