Arleigh Burke-class guided missile AEGIS destroyers are considered the most capable and most survivable warships in the US Navy. This class, in which a total of 57 ships are planned to be completed, is of great importance for the Navy. The first 8,300-ton destroyer of this new class was DDG-51, aka Arleigh Burke, which entered service on 4 July 1991. The design of the Arleigh Burke class includes shaping to reduce radar cross-section and can effectively combat aircraft, cruise missiles and attack submarines.
