USS SPRUANCE (DD-963) was an American missile destroyer, whose spine was laid in June 1972, launched in November 1973 and put into service in the US Navy in September 1975. The total length of the ship was 172 meters and its width was 16.8 meters. The full displacement reached 8,050 tons and the maximum speed reached 32-33 knots. The muhrip was equipped with: Two 127 mm Mark 45 balls, two 20 mm Vulcan Phalanx set, a single 8 rail Lacula missile launcher or a single 8 rail SEA Sparrow rocket launcher. The ship was also able to operate two SH-60 SEAHAWK (LAMPS III) helicopters.USS Spruance is the first of the thirty ships in the same name. SPUANCE CLASS Ships are designed and built as special ZOP units, which are dedicated to the protection of aircraft carriers and are part of larger US navy teams. Classroom resuctive Gearing and Allen M. Summer replaced. The units in this class were built as modular, which facilitated their modernization during the service. The USS SPUANCE (DD-963) was directed to the Mediterranean in 1979 after it was put into service, where the USS Saratoga became a part of the cover of the aircraft carrier. In 1983, he was sent to the Persian Gulf region in connection with the Iran-Iraq war that took place at the time. He served in the Red Sea region in 1993 and operates in the waters surrounding Haiti a year later. The USS SPUANCE (DD-963) was excluded in 2005 and sank as a target ship the following year.
