About
The aircraft was developed by chef Engineer Arthur E. Raymond and made its first flight on December 17, 1935.
The aircraft was born as a result of the development of DC-2 as a result of the telephone marathon of American Airlines CEO Cyrus Smith and Donald Douglas.
With DC-3, which offers opportunities such as internal kitchen and inpatient travel, air transportation has become popular, especially in America.
Early aviation companies have ordered over 400 DC-3 DC-3 400.
During the Second World War, around 10,000 military versions of DC-3 were manufactured (C-47, C-53, R4D and Dakota).
In 1944, when production reached the peak point, 4853 was delivered.
Licensed copies are the Showa L2D and Russian manufacturing Lisunov Li-2 produced in Japan.
After the war, many C-47 C-47 were re-overhauled with the purpose of transportation.
In the meantime, Douglas continued to improve DC-3 and created the Super DC-3 model by enlarging the cargo capacity and changing the wing structure.
However, this model was not offered for commercial sale and was used for military purposes.
DC-3, which has been used for years in Turkish Airlines, and DC-3s are used by some companies for cargo transportation.
