About

HMS Endeavour, also known as HM Bark Endeavor, was a British royal navy research vessel, where Lieutenant James Cook commanded Australia and New Zealand on his first journey of discovery from 1768 to 1771.

Lieutenant James Cook was launched in 1764 as the Earl of Pembroke, and the navy appointed him for a scientific mission to the Pacific Ocean in 1768, and conducted research for Terra Australis Incognita or "unknown southern lands".

He was assigned as the Bark Endeavor of his Majesty, left Plymouth in August 1768, crossed Cape Horn, and reached Tahiti in time to observe the passage of Venus around the sun.

Later, he set out for the undiscovered ocean in the south and was allowed to make a request for Great Britain on the Huahine, Bora Bora and Raiatea Islands in the west of Tahiti.

In September 1769, he anchored to New Zealand and became the first European ship to reach the islands since HeemsKerck, 127 years ago.

In April 1770, HMS Endeavour was the first ship to reach the east coast of Australia, and Cook is now on the shore known as Botanic Bay.

Later, when HMS Endeavor stood in the town of Seventeen Seventy / Agnes Water, in late 1770 May, he sailed to the north of the Australian coast.

After sitting ashore at the Great Set Reef, Cook had to throw his weapons into the sea to alleviate the ship.

The HMS Endeavor climbed to the beach for seven weeks to allow the Australian motherland to allow the primitive repairs of its body.

He continued his journey and entered the harbor in Batavia in October 1770, and swore to confidentiality about the land they visited.

HMS Endeavor from Batavia continued to the west, crossed the Cape of Hope on March 13, 1771, and the ship, which has been in the sea for nearly three years, reached Dover's British port on July 12th.

After the epic Pacific journey, the ship was largely forgotten and spent troops and cargo on the Falkland Islands for three years in front of him.

After being sold to special hands, it was renamed as Lord Sandwich in 1775 and was used to carry timber from the Baltic.

During the American War of Independence, it was finally introduced to the blockade of the Gulf of Narraragansett in Rhode Island in 1778, in 1778.

The wreck was not exactly found, but it is thought to be one of the five remains in the Port of Newport.

The ruins of Endeavour are exhibited in marine museums around the world, including the anchor and six balls.

A copy of Endeavour was released in 1994 and approached the Australian National Maritime Museum in Sidney Port.

The US space shuttle work took the name of this ship and was depicted with fifty cents of money in New Zealand.
