The 155 mm ball M1 was a 155 -millimeter -calited field ball developed by the United States Army. The nickname was called "Long Tom" (a long and deep -rooted title in the US field and sea artillery), then produced in M1 and M2 variants known as M59. The weapon, which was developed to replace the 155mm GPF in Canon, was used as a heavy field weapon during World War II and Korean War, and was also classified as a secondary weapon for the coast defense. The weapon can fire 100 libre (45 kg) bullets with a maximum of 23 km, and the estimated hit life is 1,500 bullets. Uzun Tom was accepted by a number of other countries, including the United Kingdom, Austria, Israel and the Netherlands.

The new weapon design used a barrel similar to the previous 155 mm GPF, but had an ASBURY mechanism with a vertical hinged wedge tap support. This type of wedge, a single handle by moving a single arm and a lock that opened and closes a deducted toothed wedge plug. The ammunition of the 155 mm ball was "separate loading", ie the bullet and gunpowder load was packaged, shipped and stored separately. The bullet is removed to the position behind the breech and then multiplied by the chamber to attach the rotating band of the bullet to the barrel rifle. After the shell is compressed into the nest, a series of dust bags are loaded as required for the desired range. Powder charge can be installed up to seven charging settings. After the dust is loaded, the wedge is closed and locked and a lining is placed in the firing mechanism of the wedge. After the altitude and azimut are adjusted, the weapon is ready to shoot. The ignition mechanism is a device to start the ammunition primer. The primer then activates the ignitener who fires the shipment load of the ammunition. A laanyard with a constant pulling first runs the ignition pin, then fires the lining when it is pulled. Weapons were developed as M1a1 and M2 variants. After the Second World War, the United States Army was reorganized and the weapon was redefined as the M59.
